Istanbul Aydin University is a foundation university established in Istanbul by the Anadolu Education and Culture Foundation. According to the statistics of the Council of Higher Education (YOK), it was the most preferred foundation university by prospective students between 2007-2016, and in 2015-2016, it was also the foundation university with the highest number of international students.
The Anadolu Education and Culture Foundation was established in 1995 with the aim of closing the gap in qualified personnel in Turkey and providing a solution to employment problems by establishing a college. As a result, the first college directly affiliated with the Council of Higher Education was established through the 106th General Assembly decision issued on September 26, 2003. The college was named Anadolu BIL Vocational College.
While the activities of this college, which began admitting students in the 2004-2005 academic year, continued, it also pursued a project to establish a foundation university. The project bore fruit, and on May 18, 2007, Istanbul Aydin University was established by Law No. 5656 published in Official Gazette No. 26526. Anadolu BIL Vocational College also became a part of this university.
