Altınbaş University

It is a foundation university that was established in Istanbul in 2008. The institution began providing education under the name Kemerburgaz University at its establishment, and as of July 1, 2017, it took the name Altinbas University. It admitted its first students in 2011 and started its education in the 2011-2012 academic year.

In 2008, the Mehmet Altinbas Education and Culture Foundation Board of Directors of Altinbas Holding initiated the establishment of a foundation university. In accordance with Law No. 2547 on Higher Education and the Regulation on Foundation Higher Education Institutions, application documents were prepared, land was purchased for a campus in Kemerburgaz, a project was prepared, and the university was named “Istanbul Kemerburgaz University”. The establishment law was passed in the Turkish Grand National Assembly on May 22, 2008, but construction of the campus could not begin due to zoning issues. While efforts to resolve the land issues in Kemerburgaz continued, in order not to delay the establishment of the university, it was decided in December 2010 to transfer Altinbas Holding’s management building located on Mahmutbey Dilmenler Street, Bagcilar, to the university, and work began to arrange the building in accordance with the needs of the university.
